Scarless suture face lifts

These minimally invasive "thread-lift" procedures lift the jowls, cheeks, brow, and neck under local anaesthesia, providing a more youthful look instantly.  Dr Prendergast pioneered several of these techniques in Ireland, including combined use of the Serdev technique and Silhouette sutures.  He trains doctors in Europe and Asia in these techniques and has written several book chapters on thread lifts.

SERDEV LIFT

This procedure is very different from other thread lifts that lift only skin or fat.  During the Serdev thread lift, moveable tissue such as SMAS--the thin layer that envelopes the muscle--is secured to stable structures providing instant results.  Venus Medical was the first clinic in Ireland to use this thread lift technique.  The Serdev thread lift increases definition of the jawline, raises the outer corners of the eyes, and lifts mild sagging of the neck, improving overall facial proportions and definition.  This results in a more youthful and pleasing appearance.  The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and takes about an hour.  The punctures made to place and secure the threads are so small that stitches are not even required and the downtime is minimal.

SILHOUETTE SUTURE LIFT

The Silhouette thread lift is an exciting new procedure that provides a face and neck lift through a small 3cm incision hidden behind the hairline.  Fine threads containing several tiny cones along their length are placed into the cheeks and jowls from the incision in the temple.  An instant natural-looking lift is achieved. One of the exciting new developments with Silhouette threads is the potential to re-tighten the threads over time without having to insert more sutures. Lifting of the mid-face with Silhouette sutures provides rejuvenation by lifting the cheeks, reducing under-eye hollows, softening the nose-to-mouth folds, lifting the jowls, and improving the definition of the neck.  The neck lift is achieved through a small incision hidden behind the ear.  

ANCORAGE SUTURE LIFT 

Rather than cones, the Ancorage threads have tiny projections or 'barbs' along their length.  These barbs catch on the drooping fat pads and tissues and lift them into a more youthful position.  Ancorage suture lifts are ideal for lifting the cheeks and jaw-line, and for use in combination with Serdev sutures for synergy and more impressive results.  The Ancorage sutures can be placed through punctures without the need for an incision, and they are secured or anchored to the muscles in the temple area or above the ear.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED?

A thread lift is very different from a conventional surgical face lift.  Thread lifts reposition tissue, rather than cut it away, to provide a more youthful and fresher appearance.  Typically, results look very natural, so rather than looking 'different', you simply look 'great'.  

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY LIKE?
